I just entered a contest hosted by Design by Humans. I don’t know if they will accept my design as of yet. But here’s the finished baby none the less. I drew this for the Incubus contest.
Acknowledgements
There is no end to the gratitude that I feel for these wonderful people who have been there during the making of this piece. And you guys should totally check them out! They are all terrific artists who deserve both love and credit for this endeavor
First a huge thanks to Isa Caruncho who was there for me to bug when my work was just at it’s line art state. You’ve been of immense help and set the foundation for this work. Also thanks to Val Chua who have also made helpful suggestions with the finishing touches of the line art. You didn’t know it but I was really struggling with the wings. It took talking to you and dreaming up an epiphany to get it to where it is now. So, THANK YOU! ♥♥♥
Mark Hontucan, and Rayson Lozada- two of the most awesome art friends who gave honest to goodness critique and pushed me to finish. I LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for staying up with me as long as you could. That meant more than I could ever express. Hope I’ve done you proud.
Jin Joson you provided the life blood to this piece. THANK YOU. this couldn’t have been as cohesive as it is right now if it weren’t for your guidance and helpful suggestions! Much love and appreciation for everything, Jin!
I don’t know if I would be accepted, let alone win. But none the less, whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there, with open arms and open eyes.

First day work in progress. The legs were drawn separately and pieced together. Still have to finish the pencil drawing of the main body and move on to drawing two more sets of legs and the wings. Will clean everything with ink and then color with (posssibly) vector flats.
Will elaborate on the design elements when the whole thing is finish.
This is a work in progress for a very important contest. ;) well, personally important anyway. Enjoy and I hope this gets you excited, because I sure am!!!

My new resolution is to use my urge to post quotes into practicing on handling type. And to be honest I dislike the Light Grenades album but the cheese lyrics gave me an excuse to use texture. HOLLAH.
My all time faves from them are: Drive, Hillikus, Summer Romance, Echo, A Certain Shade of Green.

Something warm was flowing through my eyes
But somehow I found my baby that night.
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said.
hold me darling, just a little while
While. I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss.
I found the love that I knew I had missed.
Well now shes gone, even though I hold her tight.
I lost my love, my life, That night.
Last Kiss by Pearl Jam is the first song I really liked from the band and recently I’ve been putting it on loop for nostalgia’s sake. And then a short while ago, a friend of mine introduced me to Eric Fortune and his long figures and amazing sense of color and light was just inspiring. Put these all together, and this image came out. I want to redraw it for a bigger painting someday. Probably will refine it a bit more.
Pencil on sketchpaper, post processed in Photoshop, 1 hour.

A drawing a drew several weeks back in a trip to Baguio with the most awesome art buddies ever. I am not too happy with how this turn out but I very much want to rehash it into the painting.
I have a fondness for themes like duality, the obscured and the notion of hidden selves. Before, it was a practice of mine to draw my feminine subjects with their eyes or general expressions obscured. Lately they have begun to take on more tangible forms. Despite this development, I grow tired of drawing people (gasp!). What has inspired me for the past few are actually trees and their varying structural formations. Nature is a used concept, but the romance of it will never die- at least that’s what I think! :D

Jackie Lozano, Matuod Batangas 2008
I have finally finished uploading most of my favorite pieces from my trip to Batangas last weekend on the UP IRIS Photography multiply.
Hope you like them! It’s mostly a homage to our wonderful host and inspiration.

we spotted the ocean at the head of the trail
where are we going, so far away
and somebody told me that this is the place
where everything’s better, everything’s safe

The top is a work in progress. Sorry for the crap photo :( It will be painted soon.
I’m working with some gold foil, trying to get it to adhere cleanly on paper. So far, my attempts have been pretty dirty but I’m close to getting it right. Just need to borrow a crafting knife for the next few tries.

My hand is broken. It hurt drawing this. But I still wish that I could’ve done more.
