The Tiger & the Lotus Trap
What you see is a work in progress. I can’t imagine how it’s going to end up full colored but I will be working on it extensively since it’s for a friend’s project that is due to launch this September. Hope you’d watch out for it!
A preview to what I’ve been working on lately. These are some Rorschach inspired textures which I’ve made out of generous amounts of pigment and damaged watercolor paper. It’s fun to make! It felt like kinder garden again. The end result is used for current digital project which will be released some time in early February. cheers~
My clientelle obligations are gradually becoming less and less stressing and I finally found time to start drawing (THANK GOD). I’m slated to do a painting commission which I’m dying to start on. Along with that, I look forward to priming canvases for my own personal use by next week. That and I finally get to write up some stylesheets for my own personal sites and domains.
This here is a work in progress for a group exhibition that I hope would push through. Getting to work with my hands after days of coding in front of a monitor would be a great relief.
MANILART09 WAS SO SEXY and I just started classes at PCCI. I am constantly moving so getting to draw bit by bit was a sort of a blessing. Not to say work was unpleasant. Not at all. UGH the things I’ve seen, the people I met, the things I’ve learned and the frienships on fire. I am in love.
A lot of errors. But that’s why it’s called a work in progress. Unreferenced. a sketched spread on my moleskine. I’m debating between digitizing flat colors on this or manually painting the color I want.
So after marrying Photoshop for an eon, I sifted through my stash of unfinished traditional work. Found an old painting (2007) that deserved finishing and this is what I have so far.
OH SELF OF TWO YEARS AGO. YOUR DRAWING OF HANDS SUCKED ASS. I can’t salvage that mess but this is good practice for color anyway. It’s a mix of acrylic and watercolor and I’m more gutsy with dark tones. But you can’t see the contrast because I shot this just now and my room is dark.

First day work in progress. The legs were drawn separately and pieced together. Still have to finish the pencil drawing of the main body and move on to drawing two more sets of legs and the wings. Will clean everything with ink and then color with (posssibly) vector flats.
Will elaborate on the design elements when the whole thing is finish.

I’m working with some gold foil, trying to get it to adhere cleanly on paper. So far, my attempts have been pretty dirty but I’m close to getting it right. Just need to borrow a crafting knife for the next few tries.
I drew a lot within the past hour… I had a sudden epiphany over thesis care of a friend. So now I’ve been drawing tons of flourishes that are spinoffs from my usual oriental nouveau style. These are to be painted and placed in my book.
